2. Innovate4Cities Conference (I4C24)

The Innovate4Cities Conference is a flagship event co-hosted by the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (GCoM) and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat). As global temperatures continue to rise and 70% of cities face significant climate impacts, I4C24 will provide a critical forum for cities and their partners to drive forward innovative solutions for urban climate action.

Key Highlights:

  • Global Impact: I4C24 will convene over 200 sessions, gathering experts from cities, academia, business, and civil society to bridge the gap between climate science and real-world urban action. The conference will focus on accelerating progress towards the Paris Agreement goals and informing the IPCC’s Seventh Assessment Report.
  • AI x City Climate Action Hackathon: One of the most anticipated events, this hackathon will explore how AI applications, geospatial tools, and data can help cities improve climate risk and vulnerability assessments. The initiative will foster collaboration between traditionally underrepresented communities and cutting-edge technology providers.
  • Strategic Partnerships: The conference will highlight the importance of multi-level governance and partnerships in achieving climate resilience. Sessions will showcase how local actions can align with global biodiversity agreements, explore the role of digitalization in urban climate solutions, and address the critical issue of financing city climate actions.
