The new free online EU Academy course “Global Covenant of Mayors – Cities taking action against climate change” is now available!

The Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (GCoM) fully recognizes the socioeconomic, political, and geographical impacts that COVID-19 is having on communities around the world. As cities and local governments develop sustainable recovery plans, GCoM seeks to clarify its reporting principles for cities committed to the alliance in 2020.

Global Covenant of Mayors in Canada

The Global Covenant of Mayors Canada is a collaboration between the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, ICLEI Canada, the Global Covenant of Mayors Secretariat and the International Urban Cooperation Project supported by funding from the European Union. The initiative combines two leading domestic climate programs, the Partners for Climate Protection (PCP) program and Building Adaptive and Resilient Communities (BARC), with the leading global climate program. Together we can further advance Canadian local climate action by adding value, opportunities and streamlined support for members.

Climate Emergency: Unlocking the Urban Opportunity Together

At the 25th Conference of the Parties (COP25) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (GCoM) and its alliance of partners today released Climate Emergency: Unlocking the Urban Opportunity Together, a report showcasing the collective impact of commitments across its 10,239 cities and local governments to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
